TMS

What Is TMS?

TMS is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment for depression that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.

TMS does not require anesthesia or sedation and is administered in an outpatient setting.

TMS is often recommended for individuals who:

  • Have treatment-resistant depression
  • Have not responded adequately to medication
  • Cannot tolerate medication side effects
  • Experience chronic depressive episodes

TMS may be appropriate for individuals stepping down from inpatient care who continue to experience severe depressive symptoms despite standard treatment.

What To Expect

Treatment typically involves multiple sessions over several weeks. Many patients continue therapy and/or medication management during TMS treatment.
